2nd Week

This was Jon David's 2nd week with us and it was definitely eventful. Meredith's mom came down to help while I started back to work. I found it harder to go back to work thank I thought it would be. Not only did I miss Jon David, but I missed being home and playing with Emily and being with Meredith. Julia, my mother in law, was great. She was a baby sitter, personal chef, house cleaner, and above all, she made easing back into normalcy easier. He received a great report at two week appointment. This past friday he weighed 8 lbs 2oz and grew 1 1/2 inches. Jon David continues to grow and we're enjoying getting to know him better. Here are a couple pictures from last week...

Sunday

This is the sign we posted in our front yard announcing his arrival.



Emily loves playing in our shower. So much so that she would cry when we took her out to use it. Today, we decided to let her take a shower and she loved it. She was dancing, screaming and smiling.



She loved playing with the shampoo bottles. I think we've started something that we'll have to continue.



With him feeding and visitors coming over wanting to hold him, this was great for me to spend some time with him today. He really is a good baby and I can't verbalize how grateful I am to be his father.

Thoughts about Auburn's victory versus MSU

I would like to talk about the horrible anemic excuse of an offense that we threw out there against MSU. I know a lot of Auburn coaches and fans will say, " well they are one of the toughest defenses in the conference". Really? It seems like La Tech didn't have a tough time against them. If I didn't know better, it seemed like Auburn was seriously trying to do everything they could to lose the game. Lee Ziemba, is someone paying you to blow the game? Big props to the defense, if it weren't for Pugh being flagged for holding while in the end zone - which resulted in a safety and MSU's only points - Auburn's defense would've had their 9th shut out. Tony Franklin's spread offense didn't pass the test verses the SEC this week. I can only hope for a miracle next week against LSU.

Game Day

Game day is a big day at the Ginn house. Technically, this is Jon David's second game (he was one day old when Auburn beat Southern Miss last week), but this is the first at home. Here are some pictures from the big day.

Visitors

Today was the first time a lot of our friends got to meet Jon David. Because we came home from the hospital Sunday evening, this was the first chance our friends had to come over. Here are a few pictures of our friends and family that came to meet the new addition of our family.

Travice and Sabastion Obas brought us dinner last Thursday and spent some time with us.



My father came over this morning to see his grandchildren.



My best friend from college, Nathan Currie, and his wife came over to watch the Auburn game and to see Jon David. He was one of the first people to meet Emily when she was born.

Thursday

I awoke Thursday morning benefiting from a pretty good night of sleep. This was our second night putting Jon David to sleep in his carrier and he woke up every 3 hours to feed and then go back to sleep. For some reason he doesn't like sleeping straight on his back and I'm glad that we found a solution pretty quickly. We are very lucky and hoping that this continues! Below are some recent pictures of today's activities.

We gave Jon David his first bath and he didn't enjoy it. We put his bath tub on top of our bathroom counter and while bathing him, he decided to relieve himself. He peed all over my deodorant, cologne, tooth paste and other toiletries. He has pretty good range and we'll have to use precautions next time.



We decided to let Emily try and feed herself her yogurt, but this resulted in a morning bath for her as well. While in the bath she realized that she had to go to the bathroom so she went poopie in the tub (we didn't get a picture of that!). After three rounds of sanitation, the bath tub was back in service.


Everyone asks, "How is Emily doing?" My response is that she's the same. She doesn't know who Jon David is. She doesn't understand that this thing is going to change her life and take attention away from her. She's in her own happy world where Sesame Street is her favorite show and everything within her reach is considered a toy and fair game. We did take time to play bubbles with her which she loved.



After his bath Jon David was awake so we decided to take some photos of him hoping to get one that we'll use for his birth announcement. Meredith snapped this one and this is the one we'll use, he really looks like his sister.

Wednesday

Today was a good day. We've realized that Jon David doesn't like to sleep in his bassinet so instead of taking turns staying up and holding him while he sleeps - we did that Monday night - we put him in his carrier/car-seat and he slept sound all night. It was great and hopefully last night wasn't a fluke and he'll continue to sleep well. My sister, Sarah, came over today with her daughter Lauren. There is a lot of symmetry between her and I. Her daughter, Lauren, is 3 months younger than Emily and she is expecting a boy due October 15th. Here are some pictures of today;

First night home

Emily doesn't know what to think about her little brother, it's just playing as usual for her.



This is Jon David's going home outfit. The theme for his nursery is frogs. We decided on this because frogs mean prosperity and good fortune in relationships in the Spanish city of Salamanca. This was where Meredith and I met while studying there in the summer of 2001.



We were all excited to get out of the hospital and come home.



He slept the whole time on he way home and loves his car seat/carrier. We have the same picture of Emily with the "welcome home" sign.



We heard good things about this swing when we got it for Emily, however she didn't care for it too much. We're starting him young and he seems to enjoy it, he likes to chill out in it.



It was so good to get home. I left for my parents house to pick up Emily and our dogs. It was a weird to think that my children were in two separate places.

Delivery Day

We went to the doctor Friday afternoon and the doctor told us to go out and walk to speed things up. So we walked...and walked. We were admitted to the hospital at 6pm and at 11:04pm, we welcomed Jon David into the world! I was such a long day, it went from being in Rockmart, GA Friday morning for a business appointment to becoming a new father by the end.

Thank you for taking the time to view our blog. We are new to this, however due to our growing family we feel that this is the best way to keep everyone updated to what's going on in the Ginn family. My name is Jonathan and I met my wife while attending Auburn University. Meredith Kincaid and I were married on May 15th, 2004. Our daughter Emily Claire was born April 24th, 2007 and just recently our son, Jon David, was born September 5th, 2008. Rounding out our family are our two Shih-Tzus; Lexie & Levi. We look forward to sharing our family with you and hope you enjoy!
